What a great word to start your Babble of The Month! Backgammon is such a strategic game with a very interesting history.
I enjoyed playing backgammon with my friends in high school and college, and I still have my own set for when friends come over.
Chess is another ancient, strategic game. Do you know what country chess originated in?

ReplyDeleteI am so excited to hear the next post on your blog! I think I may have the answers. Backgammon started in Mesopotama which now includes mordern day Persia, Iran, Iraq and Syria. The first backgammon game was held in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1975. The history of backgammon goes back approximatly 5,000 years.

I did some research and this is what I found out:
The history of Backgammon goes back 5,000 years. Iran and Iraq are two countries that Backgammon may have originated from. The first world championship was held in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1967.
